Great inspiration from humble beginnings...

An HR professional by trade but not laden with degrees, PHDs, or prestigious accolades, I am a natural collector of a few certain truths about us. Each of us miraculous creations is certain to inspire if only given the chance ... here is the short story of one who inspired me...

Three years ago I sat in a cramped office across the table from a woman many years my senior, tasked with coaching her through the perceptions leading to her lack of success in her executive position. In response to what was shared, she stated with the most honesty and humility one could - "I don't know how to do that ... can you help me?".

What is that thing that could elude a grown adult most of her life, through a successful career, raising children and all that life had brought her way?

Perspective.

She'd lost her sense of value, vulnerability, and ability to leverage virtue in her life and career.

The hard but wonderful part was the thing she uttered next... "I don't like what I do... I don't like the person I am here...". And there it was, as simple as that, freedom from fear and, with it, a new start.

That woman was most brave and to no one's credit but her own. All she required was truth, a mirror, and a roadmap.

I left that office that day with the deepest, wrinkle-causing grin on my face. Therein was found my true joy & mission.

The thing I'd always known was confirmed - the thing each person wants the most is to know their value and to be better. No one sets out to behave badly - that is always the symptom of a lack of self-worth or the tools to behave well.

Every ounce of natural leadership, in every walk of life, begins with a the knowledge of WHAT is good and then HOW to become the person one is meant to be ~ but undoubtedly and always, a person of virtue.

Yours in Virtue!
